SENIOR INFORMATION ARCHITECT
Upstream expectations include:
Ability to apply research principles in order to ascertain user requirements (via qualitative and quantitative methods, as necessary)
Experience with persona development and translating user expectations, goals, needs & desires from a strategic position to the interface level
Suggest and prioritize features and functionality and creative strategies that integrate these needs with client objectives discovered through consultation with client SMEs and stakeholders
Running exercises, such as heuristic evaluations and card sorting, to frame inconsistencies with current experiences while presenting a foundation of high-level recommendations moving into the engagement
Design expectations include
Ability to produce well designed, sophisticated and easy to process documentation
Communicate clearly and persuasively to clients and across cross-discipline teams. Understand when to push for another iteration or back down to meet deadlines
Deliverables that communicate high-level to field-level information flow across both interfaces and backend systems, as well as a modern take on information design on the interface level.
This role is a combination of user research, information architecture, and usability evaluation, with additional content and business strategy. You might deal with interaction design issues on the interface level, but you won\'t be futzing with interface design & branding.
You’ll need to possess exceptional critical-thinking, time-management, research, and presentation skills. Be ready to brainstorm concepts early and often, think outside the box and be open to both collaboration and critiques on your approach.
5+ years experience (preferably in an agency or consulting setting) applying iterative, user-centered research and design principles to create information heavy web sites that rely on smart information retrieval solutions
Experience with site analytics tools and reporting, as well as processes to create deliverables such as heuristic evaluations, content inventories, card sorting, sitemaps, task flows and wireframes
A solid understanding of and experience with the entire digital ecosystem – web, mobile and social
Excellent client service, communication and collaboration skills
Experience leading small teams
Familiarity with a variety of software including the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign or Illustrator) and Omnigraffle
