GRAPHIC CAD DESIGNER NEEDED
This is for a long term freelance position with a very prestigious women's apparel company. They specialize in intimate apparel, swim, cosmetics, shoes, accessories, wovens, knits, denim and dresses. They have a nationwide store front presence and a strong catalog and e-commerce business.

About the position:

The ideal candidate will have had experience and available samples to review of pattern concepts for women's apparel. The apparel you would be designing for would include sleepwear, intimate apparel and young missy causal clothing. (Graphic examples could include but are not limited to, leaves, hearts, animals, fruit, swirls, flowers, stripes, globally inspired designs, etc.) We are seeking a very creative individual to conceptualize fabric designs and patterns that convey the fresh, sporty, fun, quirky and unique looks of the organization and our clients that love us. If you have produced graphic designs for fashion or beauty related catalogs, magazines or print ad work this would also be an asset. For the New Year the focus is on swim and or intimates so experience and samples in these areas would be a plus for the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:
·Excellent knowledge of articulations and rig building on characters as well as complicated props;
·Must be able to design and maintain main rig structures that can be re-reused for new models or to be the starting point for junior rigger;
·Practical knowledge of anatomy and articulations (humans and animals) is required;
·Excellent scripting (MEL and/or Python) in order to improve workflow for the front-end (assets) department; this will include working closely with the show TD for effective implementation of tools;
·Previous experience with an Asset management software is a bonus;
·Must be open to take directions and feel comfortable with changing directions in a dynamic environment;
·Must be ready to brainstorm new rigging ideas, user interface development for animators and specific rigging solutions;
·Embrace constructive feedback from supervisors, animators and clients;
·Demonstrates the ability to handle tasks independently
·Minimum 4 years experience with character rigging (and modeling) and Mel scripting;
·Excellent ability to assess shot requirements, flag potential problems and facilitate solutions
·Autodesk Maya;

Job Duties:
·Determine appropriate modeling approach and required rigging setups and tools for proper articulation and movement of characters (and complicated props);
·Performing rig aerobics to find the potential problems/limits with a rig before handing out to pipeline;
·Make timely corrections to personal or team member’s work when required;
·An ideal candidate will have an artistic eye for modeling, excellent technical knowledge of rigging, and strong scripting experience (for front-end tools);
·Building and setting up tools (MEL or Python) and procedures for modeling department (front-end) to speed up/automate modeling/rigging/texturing process.
·Supporting rig fixes for a big production pipeline: In this role the individual must be able to find solutions for broken assets at different stages of pipeline (modeling, layout, animation, lighting, comp). The variety of fixes includes (not limited to) complicated shot fixes (layout/anim), broken rigs, mismanaged models in the shot, following up asset management procedures;
·Being comfortable to work and maintain in-house rig building tools to produce custom built rigs (for a variety of characters, from biped to quadrupeds, multiple limbs, multiple heads and wings;
·Regularly contribute to the production management wiki, sharing new knowledge or time saving features/processes with peers
·Additional duties as required

MODELING & TEXTURE ARTISTS

In this position you will conceptualize & create 3D computer-generated models from 2D designs (characters, locations and props). In addition to reviewing models for complex movements, you will establish rigging procedures and suggest changes when necessary. The successful candidates will also create and apply UVs and textures needed to achieve desired surface qualities for the completion of models.

·Experience with polygon modeling, utility nodes, and rigging techniques.
·Expertise in rigging characters and complicated props from scratch.
·Ability to paint textures and create procedural shaders is a plus.
·Working knowledge of Mel, tweaking scripts and writing simple procedures is a plus.
·A strong understanding and knowledge of human and animal anatomy is beneficial.
·Experience in UV layout, texture projections, and 2D texture painting.
·Build character facial rigs and corrective blend shapes within pipeline methodology.
·Proficiency Adobe Photoshop/Gimp.
·Experience with LINUX/UNIX and knowledge of Maya is required.
·The ideal candidate will have at least two strong skills out of three (modeling, rigging, texturing), with an intermediate knowledge of the area that is not their strongest.
·Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
·Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, computer visualization, or computer animation required.
·Minimum 3 years experience modeling in 3D software with aptitude in polygonal modeling, a solid understanding of rigging techniques, modeling for efficient rendering and texture skills are a plus.
·At least 3 years work experience required in 3D CG for digital animation, or visual effects film.
·Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Job Duties:
·Determine design solutions and methods for modeling characters.
·Create complex 3D model geometry of props, sets, characters, and objects to be painted, animated, and used in production.
·Design and implement animation controls and rigging systems characters and props using a combination of software packages and proprietary tools.
·Create and maintain facial animation blend shapes.
·Layout UVs, painting textures, and creating shaders.
·Work closely with Modelers, and Modeling Supervisor to achieve desired show look.
·Work with design team to execute desired look of textures for CG objects and characters.
·Work with team members to evaluate visual consistency.
·Riggers work closely with the animation department solving shot based problems.
·Prepare assets for integration in production database and validate assets for pipeline workflow.

JUNIOR AND MIDDLEWEIGHT 3D ARTIST
We are currently welcoming applications for ‘Junior and middleweight 3D Max Artists. These positions will provide an opportunity to bring your skills to the team and learn different aspects of the industry. On the job training will be provided to help develop key skills. Joining this young ambitious company will allow you t work on live projects in a team environment. You will be required to manage projects on your own, reporting to senior staff. You will also be taught invaluable skills, techniques, procedures in creating animation and high-resolution stills for a diverse creative client base.
Responsibilities to include:
3D modelling, texturing and UVing high poly meshes
Preparing Max scenes for rendering
Bespoke shader creation
MaxScript application development
Rendering in a production environment

Requirements:
Solid working knowledge of Max
A working knowledge of Vary, Mental Ray and/or Render Pipe would be an advantage
Must be a keen 3D artist, up to date with this fast changing industry
An independent problem solver and have an eye for fine detail and real world realism
Previous industry experience is not essential but would be and advantage (Junior)
An interest in Photorealism is essential
Applicants for Middleweight positions must have at least 2/3 years industry experience
Experience with node based compositing packages a plus

MOTION GRAPHICS DESIGNER
The Milken Family Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to discover and advance inventive and effective ways of helping people help themselves and those around them lead productive and satisfying lives. The Foundation advances this mission primarily through its work in education and medical research.

The Foundation’s Creative Services Department is looking for someone who can work collaboratively with a team of producers and video editors as well as alone. Must be self-disciplined and a self-starter. Being able to take a project from concept to completion is key. A corporate environment with room for creativity.
