SEEKING A TOP RETAIL INDUSTRY REPORTER
«old link», a leading financial news and investing website, is looking for a freelance writer with experience covering the retail industry for our audience of individual investors. Compensation is $50 to $100 per 500-word article based on quality and work experience, and demand will be 3-10 articles per week based on your availability and willingness to write.

The proper candidate has experience covering publicly traded stocks and economic news, preferably for a daily news organization. You will be reporting on monthly same-store-sales, consumer spending trends as they relate to retailers and quarterly earnings reports. Though the occasional consumer fluff about a product launch will be thrown your way, the vast majority of this beat is about the balance sheets of retailers -- not what's on their shelves.

Most importantly, you must be able to look beyond the numbers and decode emerging trends for the average investor. Logical opinions and responsible speculation are encouraged in our writers, since investors who visit our site are looking for actionable commentary and not just a rewrite of an AP story.

Schedule-wise, an article or two each day can be done after the closing bell for publication at 8 a.m. the following morning, however the ideal candidate will be available at 10 a.m. every morning for our editorial conference call and be accessible via e-mail and AIM throughout at least part of the trading day to cover timely market developments.

Interested candidates should submit 3 clips of relevant work (links OK), hours of availability on weekdays and a resume to jobs@investormedia.com. And most importantly, specify which freelance position you are most qualified for. InvestorPlace is running multiple ads for different beats, looking for an expert in each category. Please don't send a blanket application -- choose your specialty.
