PART-TIME FACULTY
The Department of Design, Digital Arts & Film at NYU-SCPS is seeking a digital designer in the New York City metro area with strong production skills in producing Illustrator vector drawings interested in teaching daytime intensive workshops and/or evening courses in our animation program starting in the upcoming summer 2010 session.
Candidates must have technical mastery of Adobe Illustrator. Knowledge of other programs in Adobe CS is desired. We seek a designer who is not only able to guide students through the functionalities and structure of the software with a logical and integrated curriculum, but who can also equip students with techniques for developing concepts and create work through reference to traditional visual principles and consideration of the basic elements of design and composition to help students to develop their own voice.

Specific Skills
All positions are part-time adjunct positions only. Potential candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of industry experience. Candidates with master’s degrees and/or prior teaching experience are preferred. Freelance creative professionals are especially encouraged to apply. All candidates should a have a digital portfolio of their work available upon request.

PHP DEVELOPER
We have an immediate need for a good developer with strong experience working in content management systmes and PHP frameworks.
The gig: do some minor feature development on an existing custom CMS built on CakePHP. The site is for a major magazine publisher. Task might include:

•Having the CMS create an RSS feed as documents are added.
•Building out some templates to display dynamic content.
•Adding user-facing search.
•Adding user registration.
•Adding a "most popular" module.


So, as you see, basic web dev tasks. The ideal candidate knows CakePHP, but strong php framework knowledge will suffice.

The hourly rate is very competitve. The gig is for 7-10 days. The need is IMMEDIATE.

SENIOR INTERACTIVE VISUAL DESIGNER - FREELANCE
The ideal candidate must be a hands-on, detail-oriented design professional. Specific experience working for financial services clients a strong plus. In this position, you will work closely with information architects, project managers, and other visual designers. This position reports directly to the Creative Director.

We are looking for several long-term on-site freelancers to join us immediately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•Works on client engagements independently, or as part of a larger visual design team
•Works well in a multi-disciplinary team environment (Project management, User Experience Architects, Tech Developers and Creative)
•Develops detailed design and client feedback mechanisms
•Design large scale design systems for use of templates or design language
•Takes creative and design direction from Creative Director or Principal
•Develops presentations, storyboards and client feedback mechanisms to communicate visual designs process and feedback
•Design visual mockups and style guides
Requirements:

•Bachelors degree in Interactive Design, Graphic Design or equivalent
•5-7 years experience as an art director or senior visual designer
•Experience working on applications, marketing sites, and ecommerce sites across multiple industries and verticals
•Excellent time management and prioritization skills
•Strong understanding of branding and digital identity
•Understanding limitations of Flash, Flex, Air, CSS, AJAX, DHTML, RIA and other emerging technologies
•Ability to present to large audiences a must
•Attention to detail throughout the design process
•Strong interactive design portfolio
Software package expertise

SENIOR DESIGNER
We are seeking a senior designer with extensive experience creating art for consumer products. Someone who would love to work on a wide range of stationery and home office products including cards, journals, notebooks and desktop accessories for our Greenroom brand of recycled paper products.

This position involves working with patterns and colors to build compelling design collections for national retailers. You must have a great eye for color, be an expert in Adobe CS, and have a thorough knowledge of production.
